Tony Hawk and Ben Harper have teamed up to bring Professional skateboarders, Bucky Lasek, Mike Vallely, Rodney Mullen, Jamie Thomas, Lance Mountain, Steve Caballero, Bob Burnquist, and Tony Hawk together with legendary musicians, Jimmy Cliff, Adam Yauch ( aka MCA of the Beastie Boys ), Tom Petty, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, James Hetfield of Metallica, and Ben Harper, in efforts to raise funds for the Tony Hawk Foundation, the goal is to help raise awareness for the need of more public skateboard parks. This idea was sparked by Ben Harper, who is a member of the Tony Hawk Foundation as well as advocate for public skateparks, the fundraising goal brings some legendary names together for a great cause. A group of Professional Skateboarders, Bucky Lasek, Mike Vallely, Rodney Mullen, Jamie Thomas, Lance Mountain, Steve Caballero, Bob Burnquist, and Tony Hawk donated skateboard decks they had skated along with submitting the name of one of their personal favorite songs from the musicians they had selected to work with.
The boards were shipped to the musicians of choice with the request that the musicians were asked to write the lyrics of the skaters selected song on the decks, the funds raised will be put towards the future building of skateparks. Jimmy Cliff, Adam Yauch ( aka MCA of the Beastie Boys ), Tom Petty, Paul McCartney, Bob Dylan, James Hetfield of Metallica, and Ben Harper, contributed hand-written lyrics on the skateboard decks which are currently up for auction on eBay.
