'Larry Perkins' Dunk Low Premium SB

By
More information has surfaced about the Dunk Low Premium SB, previously referred to in the blogosphere as the 'Chirping Bird' Dunk. The shoe was pictured (albeit momentarily) on the February release page of the Nike SB website, with the colourway attributed to Larry Perkins. The Atlanta Got Sole blog has shed some more light on who Larry is... “Larry Perkins” is a fictitious character from about 5 years ago. This character was a self proclaimed “Best and most under rated skateboarder alive” he did a bunch of prank calls and fake skate interviews for Big Brother (owned at the time by Larry Flint publications). According to the blog, the chirping noise has been replaced with that of a ringing telephone – a reference to the prank calls made by Larry to various skate companies and magazines. Helpfully, Atlanta Got Sole links to a selection of such calls from Skate Park of Tampa. Whether you think it's a good or bad thing, Spanish store Paxanga has confirmed that the European release will not make any noise when the tongue is pressed. This is apparently due to the chip not having a European patent. The removal of the Dunk from the February page on the Nike SB site could mean that a longer wait might be in store for those of you after a pair, so keep an eye on your local skate shop or the N-SB forum thread for info.
