Nike has a cool new video about the tech and design of the Dunk SB. Keep your eyes open and you'll spot the Neon J-Packs and a previously unseen Red/White Dunk Mid. Check it out after the jump.

  • the red sb's were nice, but they are the exact same shoe as the big gulps! just with a gum sole. we get it. some sneakers looked good, but let's liven things up. i'm glad they'll be good for more skating, but nobody is skating quickstrikes anyway. and nike sb knows that. no point in changing everything for hype shoes. also, they can't justify taking off the strap.

  • Maybe you know the wrong people bc there's no reason to NOT make a shoe better for skating. If they can improve the comfort, grip, flex, durability of the shoe but keep the silouhettes we love, why cry? If you don't like the changes, don't buy them. There's no conundrum here; if you don't like it and you're a skater, skate something else, if you don't like and you like shoes, buy other shoes, and if you don't like it and you're a mindless unoriginal hypebeast, well you just suck so I don't care what you do. Also, they're not the same as the big gulps, I didn't see any leather, they're actually just an identical rendition of the last month's QS black mids in red. Which is appealing to me. So hopefully you all will hate it and I'll be able to pick up a second pair a nice price...

  • Im with what bates just said and pointless u dont get it SB = SKATEBOARDING duhhh!!! so i dont mind them changing things on the dunk sb's and i dont think they'll be any EXCLUSIVE Qs's coming out like u think so why worry and h.luke THE STRAP WAS IN THE WAY i even hated the strap and i've skated in mids so im very glad they go rid of it YES! :)

  • lol what you kids are too young to realize is that the Dunk has been around for waaay longer than Nike has tried to make skate shoes, its a shoe thats on a completely different level than SB and its sad to see a classic get desecrated just so that Nike can make a little more profit, because the only changes I've noticed are a huge decline on quality and materials. The only reason Nike made a SB Dunk was because that is a shoe model that already had immense popularity and it was easy to market, not because it made a good skate shoe, because it is a BASKETBALL shoe. If Nike thinks they got a bunch of technology that would make a good skate shoe, then let them make a good skate shoe (prods, zoom tres), but Dunks are not that shoe. Just because your Dunks say SB on the tongue does not make them good skate shoes, your just trying to follow a trend and fit in.

I've been skating since the 80's and dunks have been skated since the week they came out man. You need to get yourself educated before you run your mouth. If you want a dunk that isn't altered to be better for skateboarding, go buy a streetwear or general dunk. But there's the rub, you want attention for your SBs but you don't put anything into skateboarding. Basically, your opinion doesn't matter. And if you do skate, why are you complaining? You sound like a hypebeast that has your identity locked in step w/ SBs staying popular w/ the kids you walk by at the mall. Grow some originality.

  • I'm not going to call pointless a retard because he has a point. the OG dunk from way back wasn't designed with skateboarding in mind. Dudes skated them because of the padded sole, and they where comfortable. An example of nike trying to improve a shoe and skaters crying over it is the cup sole blazer. Ever one knows cup soles last long protect your feet from impact better, but skaters swear vulc is where it's at. Bottom line is while we're chosing side on fat tongue or skinny ones, vulc, or cup sole. Nike is getting paid. the reason anyone bought SB dunks is hype hands down. Truth be told hype is what sales everything we buy. Try to name one thing you've bought that hasn't been hyped up by a entertainer or a athlete. Don't believe me go to your local shop and ask them is the nike hype dieing. Hell you can even check ebay. Most of the SB's on there are being sold by shops not resellers. Don't get me wrong I like SB it's a different type of hype from Jordan, But its hype none the less. Nike listens to the hypebeast too. They got their fat tongues back.

  • So they pay homage to a classic, keep in 95% original and change comfort and grip to make it better for skating in 2010 and that's lame?? Good thing we update the technology in our homes and cars and computers. Why??? WHY??? did they make my computer faster and able to do cool things faster and easier, those sellouts at apple have lost the design cred!! And I disagree w/ you 100% son god; you evidently do make your decisions on hype, as you stated, but I know there are a lot of people in here that just buy what they like and ignore the game completely. Heck a lot of the people in here actually skate the shoes they buy...
