Graduated from UCSD in 2006. Currently residing in Anaheim Hills and working a 40-hour/week job at a mutual fund company and living my life in the evening and on the weekends. I also assist 5&A Dime, AVNT/GRDE, Univ, Blends, (and other SoCal shops) as well as local brands such as Royal Revelation, Loud & Obnoxious (peace to Adrian and Gone Corporate) with promotion and web info. My current project/hobby is my personal blog (http://xjomox.blogspot.com) which I created for my own pleasure.
Growing up, I was always fond of having shoes, but could only get them at my parents' discretion. Every summer our family would hit the mall and if I was lucky, the Nike Outlet for Back to School sneaker shopping. I would get a pair of new kicks that had to last for the year. L.A. Gear, British Knights, Reebok Pumps, and Converse Weapon X are vague memories of mine. My first pair that I can truly remember are the all white (crispy) Nike Penny 2s. Nike definitely caught my attention with Little Penny ads.
I was brought to the site initially by my brother back in 2005. I was looking for the Candy Heart Valentine Dunks for my girlfriend and saw a few pairs that caught my own attention (specifically the Heineken Dunks). In discussing my newly-found addiction, Brian introduced me to nikeskateboarding.org and the legit check forum. Being even more obsessive than him, I frequented the site daily for news, legit checks, and general information. My first transaction on the forum was with sidious when I bought a pair of Unluckies off him (and I just so happened to obtain the box from killerdunks23). I was also banned early in my first year for posting in the BST forum incorrectly (untagged pictures). I became a regular on the boards and was a part of the first NSB.org meetup that took place in San Diego along with soleselecta, h1ptotheh0p (now REDefined), tide619, and SBKID619 (aka the Scammer). (Shoutout to Ollie aka canyouollie from Willy's Workshop. We still here.) When soleselecta stepped down as the Dunk SB moderator, I was recommended and took over the spot and eventually became a forum moderator for my expertise in legit checking and general knowledge of the the Dunk SB.
In my earlier years, I heavily moderated the Dunk SB forum, BST forum, and Legit Check forum. As of late, my focus has been in the Shopping and Regional forums, Dunkxchange, Clothing Forum, and wherever I can chime in. Sadly, due to my 40-hour/week job, I haven't been able to moderate on the boards as much. (Sid make me an iPhone app for NSB already.) I'm no pro at the legit check with the new kicks, but I'm always willing to help when I can.
NSB has definitely opened up my network of friends and acquaintances. I've met many people from the forum through conversation online as well as in person. A former regular of the SoCal Dunkxchange. My biggest connection due to this site is my relationship with 5&A Dime and other local streetwear shops in San Diego which has in turn has opened the doors to much of the fashion world. There's so much history in the industry in just the past 20 years alone that I've learned from those who've been around.
If you ever see me in person, I'm always open to conversation with new people. We'll have the website as a common speaking point to begin with. NSB will always be a home to me.
