Sneaker Freaker history of skate shoes

Australian sneaker site and producer of the must-have magazine of the same name, Sneaker Freaker, has uploaded a 19-page feature of the history of the skate shoe – Barefoot and Bitumen: The History of Skate Sneakers, 1960-85.

The article is based on interviews with the people who actually wore the shoes, experiencing the evolution: Aussie skater Tony Hallam, film maker Bruce Walker, legedary Z-Boy Stacey Peralta, photographer Jim Goodrich and Steve Alba. All the major bands that went on to shape the industry get a mention, with several shining references to the Nike Blazer.

DQM Nike Blazer

After the teaser pics posted on the DQM product blog, Sneaker Freaker has revealed an exclusive picture of the DQM collaboration Blazer. The shoe also adorns the cover of the latest issue of the Sneaker Freaker mag, available now with a free poster.
No big pics of the other colourway have surfaced yet, save for those of Jay-Z rocking them.
And no, before you ask, no word on the release date yet but they will be a tier zero release.
